Matt is a part of DAGG’s Commercial Litigation section. The focus of his practice is general civil litigation with an emphasis on construction law, personal injury and business litigation. Matt has worked on some of largest cases the Firm has handled, in both state and federal court, including the Health Diagnostic Labs bankruptcy litigation, personal injury cases, defamation cases, mechanics lien cases and construction litigation.
Before joining the Firm as an attorney, Matt worked as a summer law clerk within the Commercial Litigation section at the Firm. Matt has worked closely with some of the best attorneys in Virginia, gaining valuable experience and knowledge on a wide variety of different legal issues.
Prior to working at Durrette, Arkema, Gerson & Gill, Matt worked as an intern at The Spicer Law Firm in Blacksburg, Virginia. There, Matt gained experience in a wide variety of legal areas including; real estate transactions, commercial litigation, as well as traffic and DUI cases. Matt received his legal education from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree with Magna Cum Laude Honors. While in law school, Matt also received the CALI Excellence Award as the recipient of the highest grade in Equitable Remedies.
Matt received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. While attending Virginia Tech, Matt was a member of the football team as an offensive lineman, earning a varsity letter. In addition to being an Atlantic Coast Conference Champion, Matt also received the Don Williams Team United Award, and was selected to the All-Academic Team for the Atlantic Coast Conference. Matt still remains an avid Virginia Tech fan and enjoys rooting for the Hokies on gameday.
